He thrives in the supportive and collaborative team environment, which he says has helped him grow both personally and professionally. Passionate about building relationships, Anthony finds great satisfaction in helping clients move forward in their property journeys. We sat down with him this month to discuss his role, experiences, and what he’s learned along the way.
What made you originally choose to work at LJ Hooker Property Partners?
The supportive team atmosphere at LJ Hooker Property Partners is unlike any other work environment I have been a part of. Another reason as to why I chose LJ Hooker is its great reputation and the respect the agency has within the industry.
What do you enjoy most about working at LJ Hooker Property Partners?
The collaborative environment makes it easier to ask questions, feel more comfortable and creates a positive situation to work in. The resources we have at our fingertips are a great advantage of working for LJ Hooker Property Partners.
What's it like working in sales?
Working in Sales is very rewarding, you get out what you put in. You do need to have thick skin working in sales; dealing with rejection can be demoralising but sales can teach you a lot about your-self and whether you are equipped to handle those types of situations. Sales has given me more confidence in myself and life in general.
What do you feel is the difference you offer to clients?
I view being new to the industry as an advantage. I can offer a fresh perspective to clients as I am unconditioned to the standard thought process and methods of an agent who has been doing it for much longer. Providing clients with care is essential to any successful agent and being available to discuss any questions or concerns a client has 24/7 is another strength of mine.
What are your favourite things about the areas you service?
The people. Getting to build relationships with clients and understand their story and the story be-hind their property is a pleasure. Being able to help people grow and advance within their lives and being a crucial step in that is a privilege and a gratifying process.
What are some major things you have learnt since starting work here?
I have learnt a lot about myself while working at LJ Hooker. Working in sales has taught me how to handle rejection and to not give up. Being at LJ Hooker has taught me a lot about myself and has challenged ideas I once had about myself as well.
What have been your main achievements since working here?
Getting my first listing was huge – it felt very rewarding. Learning how to negotiate and how to sell myself and my services to a client is something I keep getting better at every day. Now I have a couple listings, so the goal is to keep going and continue to learn and gain more experience.
What skills and experience do you bring to your role?
In my previous roles I worked in hospitality and telemarketing. Those two positions gave me a wealth of experience in dealing with people in different situations. Dealing with complaints and putting the customer first is a great skill which transfers over to the real estate industry. Being a telemarketer I was constantly on the phone making calls for seven- or six-hour shifts. This has been a great skill to have in this industry as I am not afraid to jump on the phone and make calls and the thought of being rejected or yelled at does not phase me.
What are your goals for the future?
I’m looking forward to getting my own area to focus on. Right now, I’m currently helping Karl Gilles-pie in Calamvale and selling a house in New Farm. It is great for experience and to learn. However, when I’m ready I am looking forward to being able to focus on one suburb and become the specialist in that area.
What advice do you have for others wanting to pursue a career in real estate/sales?
Real estate is what you make of it. With hard work and knowledge, you will go far. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or make mistakes. A new person in any industry is bound to make mistakes – don’t beat yourself up about it. Take a minute to understand what you did wrong, learn from it and move on. In my view, real estate is the greatest industry to be in because of the endless possibilities, so if you are interested in it, put 100% into it and always be ready to learn.
