Spotlight: Taylor Ly

That’s exactly what drew Taylor Ly to the world of real estate—she experienced firsthand how a great agent can completely change the game. After selling her first home with Gary Liu, Taylor knew she wanted to help others navigate their property journeys with the same care and expertise.
With a background in customer service, finance, and sales, she brings a wealth of experience to her role as Sales Associate to Gary Liu. Fluent in both English and Vietnamese (and currently learning Mandarin!), she’s passionate about building relationships and making every transaction as seamless as possible. We sat down with Taylor this month to find out more about her career transition into real estate.
What made you originally choose to work at LJ Hooker Property Partners?
I was actually a past seller of Gary Liu, and he did an amazing job at helping me sell my first house. I have always been passionate about the real estate industry and the reason I started working at LJ Hooker is to assist all the sellers/buyers out there on their real estate journey. I also want to expand my investment portfolio while helping others.
What do you enjoy most about working at LJ Hooker Property Partners?
Everyone in our team is super friendly and approachable. LJ Hooker Property Partners offers great training and support. We work super hard, and the working environment has always been positive.
What's it like working in sales?
I love meeting new people. Being able to help people is what I’ve always enjoyed doing. I’m a very ambitious person and I’ve always thrived in exceeding expectations. Working in sales is super fun and I really enjoy what I’m currently doing.
What’s it like working in the Gary Liu team?
Gary Liu has a vast knowledge of real estate while remaining very humble. He drives our team in the direction of, “Be good and good things will always come back to us.” Our team is very supportive of each other, and we treat each other like family.
What do you feel is the difference you offer to clients?
We don’t see our clients as a dollar sign but instead we treat them like our family members. We always aim to improve our clients’ living conditions rather than pushing sales.
How have you utilised your previous career history, skills and knowledge in your current role?
With more than 10 years of experience in the customer service industry, building and selling my own house at the age of 24, I’m confident to bring my knowledge and skills to help our clients achieve their goals. I also completed a bachelor’s degree in commerce, majoring in Finance and Accounting at UQ in 2022.
What are some major things you have learnt since starting work here?
I have developed a deeper understanding of the current market. How to communicate with our clients in the most efficient and effective way. I’ve learned that trust is gained by knowledge and honesty.
What have been your main achievements since working here?
My main achievements since I started working here would be being able to build instant rapport with our clients during phone calls, open homes and auctions. Building a professional image and being able to help every single client that I have communicated with is my number one priority.
What are your goals for the future?
My future goal is to assist Gary Liu to become the number 1 Agent in QLD.
What advice do you have for others wanting to pursue a career in real estate/sales?
Dreams don’t work unless you do, and the sky is the limit.
