What made you originally choose to work at LJ Hooker Property Partners?
I originally worked in the accounting industry, which was my major at university. However, I grew bored with numbers and developed a strong interest in real estate. LJ Hooker is a well-known name in the industry, and I often passed by the LJ Hooker Property Partners office, imagining one day working there. When I saw a job advertisement online, I submitted my resume to embark on my real estate journey.
What do you enjoy most about working at LJ Hooker Property Partners?
LJ Hooker is a large platform that provides extensive support, enabling me to achieve significant success in my work.
What's it like working as a Business Development Manager in the property management department?
To be honest, it is a fast-paced job that requires working under significant pressure. As a Business Development Manager, my role is similar to that of a sales agent combined with administrative duties. I present our office services and strategise to achieve the best results for our clients. Additionally, the job involves coordinating various tasks such as smoke alarm upgrades and water compliance certificates. It is a very comprehensive role.
What’s your favourite thing about our property management team?
Following legislation to get things done is essential. While it may seem like all offices and agents should comply, I have taken over many properties from other agents and noticed that some did not even arrange compulsory tasks, such as smoke alarm inspections, for their clients.
What does your day-to-day schedule look like?
My day is filled with open house inspections, new business appointment with clients, data entry, cold calls, following up my pipelines, arranging necessary works for the properties I just signed up, processing applications, creating lease agreement and much more.
What’s the sign-up process like for new landlords?
The sign-up process usually goes like this:
- Book an appointment with new landlords to inspect their investment property and introduce our services through a 45-minute to 1-hour presentation.
- Follow up with them to address any questions or concerns.
- If they sign up successfully, arrange necessary tasks to get the property ready for listing.
- If they do not sign up, continue regular follow-ups to see if they need any assistance.
What do you feel is the difference you offer to landlords?
My professional knowledge. My track record. My more than 6 years of experience. And my honesty.
What have been your main achievements since working here?
Reaching the top 2.5% as a Business Development Manager!
What advice do you have for others wanting to pursue a career in real estate/rentals?
Start from the beginning. I started here as a property manager assistant working with a senior property manager. I advise people to learn and start from the beginning – there’s no rush to get in and make the best money.
