What made you originally choose to work at LJ Hooker Property Partners, and what made you return for a second time?
Ben: I originally joined in 2012 because LJ Hooker was the agency I looked up to and I wanted to learn from some of the best agents and be part of a successful team. The second time round was because of how much I have missed having a company that excels in every way, from the excellence of the admin, the amazing marketing team, the professionalism and structure in the business, the culture and people and of course being amongst some of the best agents in the country.
Jonas: My brother started working here 6 months earlier than me in 2012 and I felt it was time for me to join him in the “big” office. After leaving to another agency in 2020 for around three years, it just didn’t quite fit what we were looking for and upon returning to LJ Hooker, it really feels like home, and actually, it doesn’t feel like we have even left. Just feel extremely grateful to be back and to be warmly welcomed home.
What do you enjoy most about working at LJ Hooker Property Partners and what does this agency offer agents like you that other agencies don’t?
Ben: Love coming into the office and feeling a sense of energy around the people and environment, and that inspires me to do better, and I love using the gym also. This agency also offers incredible support from the admin/marketing team that no other agencies can match.
Jonas: The team environment and office atmosphere is fantastic here at LJ Hooker. There’s not much difference when it comes to available resources, but the admin, marketing and support team is definitely on a much higher level here.
What's it like working in sales?
Ben: Love it when you sign up a home for sale especially when it’s going for auction. The auction day is fun, and I feel happy when I surpass the owner’s expectations. I love the flexibility that I’m not stuck in the office all day from 9 to 5. It can be stressful as well but it’s rewarding.
Jonas: Love it. Been doing this for more than 20 years and still enjoy it. Love the flexibility when it comes to our time. We just ensure we meet our appointments and if we need some time off, we can take that time off. I treasure my family time as well.
What do you feel is the difference you offer to clients?
Ben: I can honestly say I genuinely care about achieving the best result for my clients and I treat them like a family member, so I do not want to disappoint them in any way.
Jonas: We are two brothers working together towards one goal. We’ve been working together since we were 15-and 16-years-olds and been working in real estate for over 20 years together.
What have been your main achievements since working here?
Ben: For work, being a member of the Life Elite club and for personal, it has helped me set up my family’s future by having the ability to buy more investment properties so we can have financial freedom.
Jonas: Work wise, I made it into the Captains Club Multi-Million Dollar Member and also made it into the REB Top 50 Agents in Australia for Consistency.
Personal side, I’ve had many achievements. Travelling is something we love to do, and we’ve managed to do plenty of it since working here. Also, managed to purchase a few properties as well as cars of our dreams. Kids are also in the best high schools in Queensland. There’s one thing that I feel is my biggest achievement since being here, it is that I have managed to get my health to the best level I’ve ever been (losing around 40 kg).
What's some of your fondest memories from working here?
Ben: The crazy Christmas parties and the amazing people that I have met.
Jonas: The Christmas parties are always out of this world. Also, with the gym in the office, it has helped me achieve my health goal which is beyond even my wildest dreams.
What advice do you have for others wanting to pursue a career in real estate/sales?
Ben: It’s a long-term industry. It will be hard for the first year – there will be lots of disappointment and it can be emotionally draining, so you will need to hang in there for at least two to three years before you’re able to see some traction. But don’t let success get to your head and don’t let failure get to your heart.
Jonas: If you want to get into real estate, be in it 100%. You can’t do this as a part time job. 100% commitment is required.
