The BrisAsia Festival is back, and it's bigger and better than ever!

From February 1 to 18, Brisbane transforms into an Asian cultural hub, celebrating the Lunar New Year and the richness of Asian traditions. This three-week extravaganza brings together a blend of food, music, art, and more, offering a unique opportunity for Brisbane to connect with Asian culture.

Feast and Frolic at Fish Lane and Beyond

Kickstarting the festival is 'Lush', an inaugural Asian street festival located in the bustling Fish Lane Arts Precinct. Dive into a world of vibrant street art, electrifying dance performances, and an array of Asian cuisines. Highlighting the event are artists like Lisa Tran Kelly and Vanghoua Anthony Vue, who bring the streets of Southeast Asia to Brisbane. It's a feast for the senses that promises to be a family-friendly spectacle.

Another exciting addition is the Southside Dumpling Festival. Led by Sous Chef Benny Lam, this event is a dumpling lover's dream. It's not just about eating dumplings – it's an immersive experience showcasing a variety of dim sums and dumplings, accompanied by live performances and pop-up kitchens.

Immersive Cultural Experiences

One of the most anticipated events is 'Awakening' at the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium. Featuring indigenous artist Glenn Barry, sound healer Chiho Kagawa, and Tibetan musician Tenzin Choegyal, this concert is set against the backdrop of the Cosmic Skydome, creating an otherworldly experience.

Meanwhile, BrisAsia Dance brings street dance events to the heart of the city, while ImaginAsia, a series of interactive workshops, ensures that the festival’s youngest attendees are not left out. These events encourage participation and learning, offering a fun and educational experience for all ages.

Eclectic Nights and Tea Delights

Dive into the vibrant 'Southside by Night', where hip hop beats meet the allure of sports cars and the rich flavours of Asian street food. This event, reminiscent of a 'Fast and Furious' scene, is a haven for car enthusiasts and foodies alike, offering a unique blend of modern Asian culture and urban excitement.

Concurrently, the BrisAsia ParTEA transforms Chinatown into a tea lover's paradise. Here, you can savour everything from traditional hot brews to trendy bubble teas, all in an environment enriched with craft workshops and relaxing music.

These highlights are just a glimpse of what BrisAsia Festival 2024 has in store, offering an unforgettable experience that celebrates the diversity and vibrancy of Asian culture. Most events are free, but some are ticketed, so be sure to check the full program for details.
